I first heard German guitarist Jessica Kaiser on the excellent album she recorded last year with her duo partner of more than ten years, Jakob Schmidt, called Kaiser Schmidt Guitar Duo (very favorably reviewed by Chris Dumigan in the Winter 2017 issue of CG). Not surprisingly, both guitarists are also successful solo performers. Here, Kaiser plays La Serenor (the Catalan word for “serenity”), which is the first movement of a larger work called Collectici íntim written by Spanish composer Vicente Asencio in the mid-1960s for guitarist Narciso Yepes.  —Blair Jackson
