Honest, we don’t share these tales of brilliant young classical guitarists to make you feel jealous or inadequate. Rather, we’re excited that the future of the instrument will be in the hands of people like this: Ten-year-old self-taught South African phenom Luthando Jackson, who has already made high-profile appearances at colleges and art galleries, played for President Jacob Zuma, and with the Kzn Philharmonic Orchestra. This July, Jackson will be attending a guitar workshop in Palencia, Spain; this on top of the scholarship he was awarded to attend Epworth preparatory school in his native land. Can you imagine what he’ll be like at 20, 30, 40, and beyond?
