Classical Guitar Music to Play: Karl Friesznegg’s Variations on a Theme by Schubert, ‘The Trout’

schubert trout variations
Edited by Neil Smith

The fine introduction here leads to the theme from “The Trout” by Schubert. The fingering is probably modern and it seems best to be flexible and not always select exactly what is indicated. The single finger backward arpeggios (bar 16, etc.) were all given on our master copy, no other right hand fingering was indicated at any point. A curious feature of this work is that the Andante (introduction) to Aduado’s famous Rondo has a similar start to the present work (just in case you like the style).
