Strathallan’s Lament, (traditional, Robert Burns), is a superb example of this style, to quote the Concise Oxford: “A piece of elegiac music expressing grief, specifically music for bagpipes at Scottish clan funerals.” Readers may like to try my fingering in bar 3, using open E on the second beat. I also include A to G sharp fall in the final cadences (bars 7 and 16) on the repeats.
