Video Pick of the Week: Antonis Hatzinikolaou Plays Astor Piazzolla’s ‘Romantico’ from ‘Cinco Piezas’

Classical-guitar lovers, meet Antonis Hatzinikolaou. Antonis is Greek, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, has played in several European cities, and made his United States debut last year at the Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival. He has also recorded a couple of CDs, including the acclaimed 2013 disc Music of Memory, devoted entirely to contemporary composers.  He is also a member of the Fugata Quintet, whose specialty is the nuevo tango music of Astor Piazzolla.


Which brings us to this Video Pick of the Week: Here, Antonis Hatzinikolaou plays the “Romantico” movement of Piazzolla’s wonderful Cinco Piezas.
