Video Pick of the Week: Isabella Selder Plays the ‘Sarabande’ from Bach’s ‘Cello Suite No. 2’ (on four guitars)

OK, it’s a bit a gimmick, but at least it’s a cool one: Thanks to the miracle of modern editing technology, German guitarist Isabella Selder (last seen in a Video Pick of the Week with Czech guitarist Eliška Lenhartová  in their Duo Françaix) performs the beautiful and moving “Sarabande” from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2 BWV 1008 on four historic guitars: a 1946 Enrique Sanfeliù, a 1960 Hermann Hauser II, a 1957 Ignacio Fleta, and a 1961 Hermann Hauser II. I don’t hear many differences among the four guitars, but maybe you will. (Let us know!) At any rate, they’re all gorgeous-sounding guitars and the piece is sublime and nicely played.  —Blair Jackson
