Leonora Spangenberger is one of the finest young classical guitarists in the world. The 14-year-old German phenom recently took first place in the Junior Division of the Guitar Foundation of America’s International Youth Competition in southern California, and earlier this year she placed second at the Rago International Competition in Stuttgart, Germany. Last year she shared the top prize (along with Stan Geudens) in the International Competition for Young Guitarists Andrés Segovia in Velbert, Germany.

Here she is a couple of years ago, at age 11, dispatching Caprice No. 7 by Luigi Legnani (1790–1877) with apparent ease (and joy). I suspect we’re going to be seeing a lot of her on concert stages in the future. —Blair Jackson
