A year ago, in the Summer 2018 issue of Classical Guitar, we published a profile of the superb Spanish classical guitarist Mabel Millán, who at that point was still basking in the glow of being associated with a Grammy Award given to composer Leo Brouwer for Best Classical Contemporary Composition for Millán’s recording of his Sonata del Decamerón Negro. For this week’s Video Pick, Millán goes a little more mainstream, with a wonderful performance of Canción y Danza No. 1 by the great Spanish composer and virtuoso pianist Antonio Ruiz-Pipó (1934–1997). You can hear Millán’s most recent album, Gran Recital, on Spotify, among other places. It contains the Brouwer piece, but not this one. —Blair Jackson
