Eduardo Sáinz de la Maza (1903–1982) never achieved the wide international recognition of his older brother, Regino (1896–1981; he famously premiered Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, which was dedicated to him), but he was known as a fine guitarist himself and, even more, a superb composer. Here, guitarist Scott Tennant of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (and a wonderful solo performer) plays one of Eduardo Sáinz de la Maza’s most famous and lyrical pieces, “Campanas del Alba” (“Bells of Dawn”), at the 2011 Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival in beautiful Bigfork, Montana.
