2019 Guitar Foundation of America International Convention & Competition
June 17-22, 2019

The Guitar Foundation of America will hold the 2019 GFA International Convention and Competition from June 17-22, 2019 at the University of Miami, Miami, FL. This annual event brings together classical guitar masters and enthusiasts from all over the world, including some of the most elite performers of classical guitar. The 2019 GFA International Convention and Competition will be co-hosted by Dr. Federico Musgrove Stetson and Rafael Padron.

The five-day convention includes three concerts per day, a wide array of lectures, hands-on workshops, masterclasses and private lessons, vendor exposition and luthier showcase, Hall of Fame awards ceremony, and a Guitar Orchestra, open to all attendees. This year’s artists include Manuel Barrueco, Brasil Guitar Duo, Petrit Ceku, Zoran Dukic, Duo Sonidos, Marcin Dylla, Raphaël Feuillâtre – the 2018 ICAC winner, Irina Kulikova, Lukasz Kuropaczewski, Les Freres Meduses, Iliana Matos, Rafael Padron, Raphaella Smits, and Laura Snowden. The GFA Convention is also home to three of the most prestigious classical guitar competitions in the world; The International Concert Artist Competition, The International Youth Competition, and The International Ensemble Competition.

In addition, GFA holds its annual Guitar Summit youth camp, Community Guitar Orchestra, and Spotlight Recital at the convention. Guitar Summit is a six-day, five-night sleep-away guitar camp for aspiring young musicians ages 11-18 that runs alongside the convention from June 16-21. The Community Guitar Orchestra is open to all convention participants. Under the direction of Chuck Hulihan, the orchestra rehearses during the week and gives a concert at the convention. Finally, the Spotlight Recital gives non-competitor adult attendees the opportunity to perform in an open concert on a first-come, first-serve basis. This is a great opportunity for guitarists of all ages and skill levels to come together and support one another in the sharing of their craft.

The Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) is the world’s leading classical guitar organization, promoting excellence in performance, literature, research, and education of the classical guitar.
