This being the 50th anniversary of the sublime musical partnership of Brazilian brothers Sergio and Odair Assad (Duo Assad) we’re occasionally highlighting videos of the pair in action. In this one, however, the spotlight is on a trio: the Assads are joined by their countryman, Romero Lubambo, who has been an in-demand performer and session guitarist in New York since the early ’80s (while remaining popular in his homeland, too). Here, they perform Carlos Lyra’s aptly titled “Influencia do Jazz,” (arranged by Sergio) at the One World Theatre in Austin, Texas, on October 21, 2015, just a few weeks ago. The concert was presented by Austin Classical Guitar.

An exclusive interview with Romero Lubambo appears in the Winter 2015 issue of Classical Guitar, out now.
